The Lakes

The Lakes project in Tauriko - Tauranga, is a very large scale subdivision or new town. Residential and commercial areas with differing zoning are involved. There is a mix of exotic streetscapes to revegetation and substantial wetlands/storm water plantings.

The Lakes is a project involving large amounts of flexibility. The development progresses to a minimum each year, but will develop further if earlier stages are successful in sales. This allows greater financial abilities to progress quicker. Weather conditions later in each bulk earthwork season will also dictate planting areas and volumes.

Communication and keeping inventories up to date is very important in this project. There are two contractors working on the same project on different zones. This could lead to confusion if steps are not taken to build a methodical and commutative approach.

From October through to March/April, Kauri Park work very closely with the design team to achieve the right result. This includes plant size/grades/volumes and species selection, especially in the wetland areas.
