Wiroa Station

Wiroa Station is a high end subdivision development in the Bay of Islands. The developer is very environmentally conscious and was concerned to be enhancing the biodiversity to a standard well beyond the state of the property before development.

A challenge for the developer was finding a nursery capable of supplying a large number of plants that had not been already secured to an existing contract. Kauri Park grows large amounts of Natives every season with the "speculation" that there will be a contract similar to Wiroa to fulfil. This is a calculation unique to Kauri Park on this scale.

All of the adjoining coastal areas were replanted with native species working with the natural form of the land. Large wetland areas were fenced off and enriched with supplementary planting. Kauri Park project managed the Wiroa project beyond the design and resource consent stage with the exclusion of the fencing. This was instated by a local contractor.
